Brumby's Breads
The Picnic.
This is artists' pastel on blackboard. It is intended as an advertising artwork, is not under glass, so is heavily fixed. Pastel covers the entire blackboard.
Everything pictured was painted from life. Brumby's provided all the bread for my artwork so I was allowed to taste it all - very nice.
The Picnic - detail
This was the first chalkboard I painted for Brumby's. It is more like an advertising board than the Picnic (above) and the Barbeque (below). It is still a collectible piece though.
The Barbeque.
This chalkboard was a compromise for me. The original art-piece had as much detail as the Picnic but the client wanted cheaper. I couldn't in all conscience do the same detail as before for less money so I said I would have to cut down. I think the client made a mistake. For a couple of hundred more there was going to be a tablecloth with soft folds, more food on the table, more detail in the curtains, another couple on the patio - one in a lounge chair and one looking at the scenery. I think we both lost out here.
I did a few of these small framed chalkboards for Brumby's.
